plum desires

plum necklace by Dinosaur Toes on ETSY; plum shoes by Lela Rose for Payless

Plum is such a rich color, isn't it? It can be a little Dynasty when done wrong, but I like the modern take on these goodies with the frayed edges. The necklace reminds me of a crocus. The shoes would look fab with a suit, worn at a Junior League committee meeting ... or equally chic with dark jeans and a black cbgb tshirt. And guess what ... you can have both for under $55.

still loving yellow

The September 2008 issue of Vogue magazine did a piece on a hot (and new to me) shoe designer named Bruno Frisoni. The photo in the magazine reminded me of the scene in Marie Antoinette (the movie by Sofia Coppola) when Antoinette and her girlfriends are shoe shopping. Frisoni's shoes are unapologetically sexy, feminine, and girly! Like candy! Yum.

The pair shown above are my favorites... I can see them with a pair of black trousers, a plain white shirt and black cardigan ... the only color being the hints of yellow peeking out when you walk confidently into your meeting.

Our yellow daisy letterpress note cards use the same shade of yellow, I think. We're currently out of stock of these cards (thanks, everyone, for buying them all!) but we are reprinting this month. Just let us know if you'd like to pre-order.

seersucker

seersucker pants: ann taylor loft
"skylight" lapis necklace: delphine
navy wedge shoes: old navy

In preparation for our trip to Atlanta & Charleston I broke down and bought these seersucker pants (on sale! yay!) from Ann Taylor Loft in a loving homage to The South. Found these navy wedge shoes at Old Navy, but am thinking they may not be the best choice for walking a trade show. Perfect for dinners out, though, right??? The matching "Skylight" lapis necklace is from our delphine inventory of fabulous semi-precious jewelry. Might have to "borrow" it ...

trade show shoes

photo: aerosoles.com

The weeks before every trade show are filled with important to-do list items, such as: reserve plane tickets, order new line sheets, mail booth number announcements, press check new products, and design a fabulous booth display. But one of the tasks on the list that I actually look forward to is to shop for trade show shoes. I stand for 10 hours a day in the booth, so they have to be cute, chic and very very (very) comfortable. I haven't tried them on yet, but I suspect you'll be seeing these cool green moccasins from Aerosoles on my feet at the National Stationery Show!
