mimosa and blue iris

I'm a long time fan of Pantone's 2008 color of the year: Mimosa. And last year's color of the year, Blue Iris, is starting to grow on me. I've been looking for a tote bag large enough for my laptop (most laptop bags are so ugly! why is that?) and think this mimosa yellow tote from Target might do the trick. I'm also loving the sweet yellow t-shirt from Anthropologie. And I picked up this blue iris cardigan over the weekend to match our upcoming NSS booth ... can you guess the color scheme for the new collection???

woodland

click for the scoop on all items shown above.

One trendy theme that is "so two years ago" is the woodland theme. But it is near and dear to my heart, as we debuted at the National Stationery Show with a woodland collection a few years ago. The adorable sisal owl christmas ornaments shown above made their way into my shopping cart last week (from Target). I'll use them as props for photo shoots, and I'm sure a few will find their way onto the Christmas tree, too.

letterpress: dutch door press

Last May at the National Stationery Show I met the ladies of Dutch Door Press and was smitten with their work. I was browsing Etsy last night and came across their shop. I love their "California" limited edition letterpress print, which is one of a series, "birds and blooms of the 50 states." This print features the state bird which is the California valley quail and the state flower which is the California poppy. (Both of which can be seen in our neighborhood, and both of which inspired some of our collection last year, too!) Available in the Dutch Door Press Etsy shop.

shop we love: lesesne

The very best thing about trade shows is all the fun people we meet! A few years ago we met Barbara and Bryte at the National Stationery Show. They were shopping for their fabulous store in Charleston, South Carolina: Lesesne. Every time we go back to Charleston we hang out with Barbara and Bryte and have such a blast. Of course I can never help myself from buying goodies in their Upper King Street store, either. This time I bought that little green vase (lower right photo) and a gorgeous two-tone torchon (kitchen towel).

orange beautiful

Thanks, Emily, for posting about our National Stationery Show booth on your blog: the SCOOP! I like to start my day with a little fun, so I read the SCOOP every morning as I caffeinate myself and I'm always inspired.

I took photos of Emily's gorgeous Orange Beautiful booth, too. Stay tuned ...

National Stationery Show Update

So I had these big plans ... I was going to post from the National Stationery Show every day with photos and updates. Obviously this is not happening. I have no real excuse other than that I have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to touch the computer...and also I lost my camera for a few days. I'm headed out early to the Javits today so that I can take some photos.

Our annual Monday Morning Mimosas was a blast (co-hosted with Russell+Hazel) and I would like to thank everyone for taking the time out of your schedules to join us.

Last night I had cocktails with some lovely friends from the show, including:
Blue Barnhouse (booth 2469)
Old School Stationers (booth 1551)
Night Owl Paper Goods (booth 1644)
Orange Beautiful (1944)

I'll post photos soon :-)

BTW: "Le Poire" at the Royalton Hotel comes highly recommended by moi: Grey Goose Poire vodka, Pear slice & champagne!

icff

Now that our National Stationery Show booth is packed and shipped I have a few moments to breathe. I was looking at the calendar and realized that this year, because we (okay, J) did so much prep work on the booth before we shipped it, I will have time to walk my favorite show: the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) on Saturday (the day before NSS opens). The rug shown above is from Emma Gardner Design (booth 2148). I'm always blown away by the booths that exhibitors put together at ICFF, not to mention all the gorgeous & innovative product designs.

nss preview

The studio is NUTS getting the rest of our boxes ready to ship out to the Javits Center for the National Stationery Show. Minor disaster last night when our centerpiece frame broke, so today we have to scramble to find a replacement TODAY. Yikes.

sneak peek

Here's a sneak peek at one of our newest designs: Sullivan. It's inspired by wild seagrass on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina and California poppies. We'll debut this new design later this month at the National Stationery Show.

poor little puffy

This cute little puffer did not make the final cut for the new letterpress journals we are printing in time for the National Stationery Show. It broke my heart but puffy is on hold.
